[ Abstract ]
During the 1950s, most of São Paulo's railway complexes began to
undergo spatial changes due to the development of technology,
society and the economy, resulting in the decommissioning of
numerous buildings. The implementation of urban designs for the
urban revitalization and reuse of its old infrastructures rose
to prominence in the 1970s. In this context, Araraquara had its
railway complex partially decommissioned; although its station
received a new use in 2008, many of its buildings were
neglected. Currently, the rails that cross the city, which are
about to come deactivated, may put Araraquara upon the challenge
of preserving and reusing its old railway´s buildings. Thus,
this article aims to make a contribution to help other cities
that require interventional and restructuring strategy planning.
For this, a proposed methodology will be presented for the
inventory of existing reuse examples in the state of São Paulo
(Brazil).
