[ Abstract ]

The book of Pierre Joseph Proudhon Des réformes à opérer dans l'exploitation des chemins de fer, et des conséquences qui peuvent en résulter, soit pour l'augmentation du revenu des compagnies, soit pour l'abaissement des prix de transport, l ' organization de l'industrie voiturière, et la constitution économique de la société, published in 1855, constitutes a source of great interest to know the vision that this thinker had on this new mode of transport and on the consequences that it could have for the set of the economy and society of the time. This paper intends to present a contextualized analysis of this source, trying to extract the main reflections developed by Proudhon in relation to the railroad, within its economic and social ideals.
