[ Abstract ]
The history of roads and means of transport in the Middle Ages is still poorly known. The Lope García de Mujica’s accounts are an interesting documentary source in this regard. The analyzed information allows an assessment of the economic value of the weapons acquired in Álava, Guipúzcoa and Vizcaya, the means of transport used and the cost of moving goods to Andalusia, its final destination. The economic effects of transport and the social impact of shippers on trade are often unnoticed in medieval studies. This paper will contribute to better understand these issues.
