[ Abstract ]
The evolution of Compañía de Tranvías de La Coruña under the early Franquismo can be structured in two stages. First of them between the beginning of the Civil War and approximately 1948, when trolley-buses and buses began to replace trams. This period would be cha-racterised by business difficulties expressed by the progressive cut of the operation margin because of rate freeze, electricity restrictions and replacement of materials as well as the increase in social security contributions. During the second stage, 1949-62, business results noti-ceably improved thanks to the traction change, the more favourable economic context and the administrative su-pport to the sector restructuring.
