[ Abstract ]
After 115 years that Gas Reusense had manufactured coal gas, double structural change came in the company of the city of Reus. In 1969, the Catalana de Gas y Electricidad acquired the assets of the municipal gas from society and transformed the production system. It was a moment in which the productive obsolescence of the gas industry Catalan and Spanish couldn't further delays. In Spain, the technological change of gas production began in 1956, when Barcelona built the first installation of naphtha. Ten years later, Gas Reusense took a first step provisionally using naphtha and cornering coal as the basic raw material used. It wasn't until 1969, which the Catalana installed in Reus the first factory of propane air gas. This system was adopted at other Spanish factories as part of the process of transition to natural gas.
